2023 LBJ DC Fellow
Lauren Guillaume earned her Masters of Global Policy (DC Concentration) at the LBJ School. She graduated from The McCombs School of Business with a Bachelor’s in business administration. During undergrad, she studied at The University of Cape Town in South Africa and Universidad Pontificia Comillas ICADE-ICAE in Spain. Her opportunities abroad served to understand global conflicts and resolution strategy both academically and through firsthand experiences with vulnerable communities.
Prior to graduate school, Guillaume worked at IBM for three years as a client representative for cloud and AI. She enjoyed collaborating with clients and business partners she cultivated within the public and financial sectors. Guillaume used an agile, consultative sales approach to solve problems, discover near-term and long-term business opportunities, and lead client teams through the sales process, including technical Request for Proposals (RFPs).
Prior to her business career, Guillaume worked with Rapid Asia in Bangkok, Thailand where she performed monitoring and evaluating assessments for international organizations. She is motivated by the people she served while working in Honduras, South Africa, India, Thailand, and Greece with various organizations focused on displacement and human rights.
At LBJ, Guillaume was involved with the Alexander Hamilton Society and the Portfolio in Security Studies Program hosted by the Clement Center for National Security. She took an elective course focused on intelligence and national security; learning skills to bridge intelligence and strategic advantage for policy makers. She also served as a graduate teaching assistant for Cultural Intelligence in the Global Economy.
