Episode 1
The first episode features Evans' discussion with LBJ Professor Ruth Wasem on current immigration policy challenges in the United States, particularly related to DACA, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Wasem offers her expert insights into DACA and how it fits in with our current public policy perspectives, along with the history of immigration in the U.S.
DACA is not the first government effort to keep families of immigrants together; Wasem will discuss those efforts of prior presidents and compare them to the purpose of DACA. She'll also detail the complexities of the policy process with regard to taking further action solidifying the future status of Dreamers (as DACA recipients are called). Download full transcript.
