2017 LBJ DC Fellow

Ali McGuigan received her Master of Global Policy Studies (DC Concentration) at the LBJ School. A summa cum laude graduate of Texas Christian University in political science/international relations, she minored in Spanish and criminal justice. Ali is interested in international security policy, with a particular focus on fragile democracies in Eastern Europe and Latin America. While earning her undergraduate degree, she worked at a startup nonprofit, Dream Outside the Box, that focused on steering children in underserved communities to higher education and career pathways through college student-led after-school programming. At the LBJ School in Austin, she worked within Innovations for Peace and Development (IPD), a University of Texas policy research organization focused on foreign aid development. As a member of the Open Aid team at IPD she worked with survey data from Honduras and learned basic geographic information systems (GIS) mapping.
Ali undertook her 2017 Policy Apprenticeship at Public Strategies Washington.
