2024 LBJ DC Fellow

Jasmine Parish Moreno is a candidate for the Master of Public Affairs with a DC Concentration at the LBJ School. She is a summa cum laude graduate in political science, with minors in Spanish and national security, from the University of Houston and the University of Houston’s Honor College.

Notably, she is bilingual, with fluency in both English and Spanish, which she hopes to continue to utilize throughout her career. While earning her degree, Parish Moreno worked at two national non-partisan non-profits that focused on creating policy changes for young adults in her community and across the country. These experiences expanded her knowledge and affirmed her interest in public policy. During her time in the non-profit sector, Parish Moreno led community organizing efforts, bill tracking and testimony during legislative sessions, and policy advocacy related to immigration, healthcare, higher education, and workforce opportunities.

Parish Moreno is interested in social justice and urban policy. At the LBJ School, she is taking a youth justice course in conjunction with the UT Law School that combines her interests in equality, youth development, law, and system reforms. Parish Moreno hopes to find a Policy Apprenticeship in DC focused on federal government processes and policy analysis, working either for a member of Congress/a committee or at a policy consulting firm.

Policy Interests: Inner-city youth development, public safety, transportation and infrastructure
