Welcome from the Director

Welcome to the LBJ Washington Center!

As a federal policy and research hub, the LBJ Washington Center provides an important forum for dialogue and debate on the critical policy issues of the day. Furthering President Lyndon B. Johnson's desire to produce both "thinkers and doers," the Center convenes events that bring together the national academic and public policy practioner communities and serves as a hub for the dissemination of LBJ School and UT faculty research.

As the home of the innovative DC Concentration within the LBJ School's MPAff and MGPS programs — the only accelerated Concentration of its kind in the nation — the Center helps aspiring policy professionals launch their federal careers. LBJ DC Fellows begin their journey in Austin, a leading policy lab for the nation, and conclude in Washington DC with a rigorous academic foundation, on-the-job experience and a network of professional relationships. They leave the LBJ School ready to jump onto the front lines of policy, solve the next generation of challenges and, in the words of President Johnson, "get it done."
