2024 LBJ DC Fellow

Lacey Lewis is a candidate for the Master of Global Policy Studies (DC Concentration) at the LBJ School. She majored in political science at the University of Oklahoma.

While earning her degree, she worked in the Oklahoma House of Representatives for two sessions and then worked as a Government Affairs Specialist for Guinn Strategies, an independent consulting firm. In addition, she was the Undergraduate Student Congress Chair for the University’s Student Government and led voter registration and education efforts through a nonprofit called Oklahoma Votes. She was heavily involved in her community as she volunteered and interned at Legal Aid, which focuses on providing legal services to low-income households, and the Spero Project, which provides a citizenship curriculum to resettled refugees.

Currently, she is the K-12 Education Coordinator for United Way Greater Austin and an executive intern for WellAware, an NGO focusing on providing clean drinking water to communities in Kenya.

Lewis aspires to pursue a policy apprenticeship in Washington, DC concentrating on international human rights and democracy. She aims to work for a legislator on Capitol Hill or engage with organizations like the United Nations or a non-governmental organization.
