2024 LBJ DC Fellow

Liza Montgomery is a candidate for the Master of Public Affairs (DC Concentration) at the LBJ School. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Arkansas where she majored in political science with minors in southern studies, gender studies, and sustainability.

While earning her degree, Montgomery worked at Rose Law Firm where she gained valuable professional experience. She studied in Northern Italy during her junior year, furthering her interest in diversity and culture. For her honors thesis, Montgomery analyzed two contemporary female political forces and examined the intersectionality of gender and race in the American South. Intense study of these areas proved to her that this is where she wanted to complete her life's work: policy affecting gender and racial equality, particularly in the South.

At the LBJ School, she is furthering her political communication and quantitative skills, among other areas. Montgomery hopes to find a Policy Apprenticeship in DC at a lobbying firm, think tank, or on Capitol Hill.
