2025 LBJ DC Fellow
Minh Ly is a candidate for the Master of Global Policy Studies (DC Concentration) at the LBJ School. He majored in International Relations and Global Studies, with a focus on US national security relating to East Asia, at The University of Texas at Austin.
Before graduate school, Ly worked in the office of Texas Representative Ryan Guillen as a legislative assistant during the 87th legislative session. Ly then worked as an advocacy writer at the Texas Hospital Association. These experiences, along with his academic studies, developed his skills in navigating government policymaking and drove his interest in national security.
Ly is interested in East Asian diplomacy, specifically in the context of U.S.-Sino security and diplomatic relations between U.S. allies in the region. At the LBJ school, he is taking a course on international theories, further developing microeconomic and quantitative and qualitative statistical analysis and honing policy writing techniques.
Ly hopes to find a Policy Apprenticeship in DC focused on East Asia-US Security, working with either the Department of State or an independent international think tank.
Policy Interests: US-Sino security/relations, US-East Asia diplomatic development, US intelligence analysis
