Nitish Mirchandani is a candidate for the Master of Global Policy Studies (DC Concentration) at the LBJ School. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Rutgers University-New Brunswick and an M.A. in International Studies from the University of North Texas.
During his M.A. studies, Mirchandani interned with the US State Department, gaining practical experience in foreign policy implementation. His assignment with the US Embassy in New Delhi deepened his focus on the strategic security challenges in the Asia-Pacific, especially the significance of US-India cooperation to counter China's regional influence and advance counterterrorism efforts in South Asia.
At the LBJ School, Mirchandani is enrolled in Vice Admiral Maguire’s course on Special Operations, where he continues to build expertise in national security and defense policy. Growing up in India, he offers firsthand insight into South Asia's cultural and political complexities and the broader Asia-Pacific region, complemented by fluency in multiple regional languages. His policy interests include regional security, diplomacy, and the economic frameworks integral to Asia-Pacific stability.
Mirchandani is seeking a Policy Apprenticeship in DC with an executive/legislative entity, think tank, or consulting firm focused on Asia-Pacific policy analysis, contributing to strategic initiatives addressing regional security dynamics, counterterrorism, and strengthening critical US partnerships.
