2025 LBJ DC Fellow
Serin Mubarak is a candidate for the Master of Global Policy Studies (DC Concentration) at the LBJ School. She is a cum laude honors graduate in International Relations from Francisco Marroquin University in Guatemala.
Prior to graduate school, Mubarak worked as a commercial counselor at the Embassy of Guatemala in Mexico, where she fostered bilateral trade and worked on foreign direct investment projects. She also worked in trade policy, participating in trade agreement negotiations and trade facilitation regional initiatives. During her time at the Ministry of Economy, Mubarak contributed to legislative reform proposals to enhance investment and business climate in Guatemala. These experiences developed her interest in economic development.
Mubarak is interested in economic development, particularly in emerging economies. At the LBJ School, she is taking courses in microeconomics to develop analytical skills for evaluating public policies.
Mubarak hopes to find a Policy Apprenticeship in DC focused on economic development, working with an international organization such as the Inter-American Development Bank or a consulting firm.
