Seth Rogers is a candidate for the Master of Public Affairs (DC Concentration) at the LBJ School. He graduated magna cum laude from Ohio University with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy.

His undergraduate honors thesis, “Mob Rule Begets Monarchy: The 17th Amendment’s Contribution to Political Polarization”, examined how Senate design shapes polarization and the balance between Congress and the presidency. A former sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Division, he is Ranger qualified and led a reconnaissance team during a 2020 deployment to Taji, Iraq, in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, reinforcing his commitment to service.

For his Policy Apprenticeship, Rogers seeks a placement, ideally in the U.S. Senate, that teaches production of decision-ready work such as bill analyses, hearing memos, oversight plans, and high-quality public comments, with a focus on institutional reform and federalism. He aims to help a legislative body recover regular order, sharpen committee jurisdictions, demand clear delegations in statutes, require ex post evaluation, and design hearings that surface facts.

Policy interests: Institutional reform; legislative oversight & rulemaking; federalism; national security.
