Sarasohn, Peter

2016 LBJ DC Fellow

Peter Sarasohn received his Master of Public Affairs (DC Concentration) at the LBJ School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science, with a focus in American government, at The American University. Peter is especially interested in labor and hunger issues in the context of U.S. congressional policymaking. Before graduate school, Peter served as a legislative assistant in the Oregon House of Representatives for five years, and in different legislative sessions worked as the chief aide to the chair of the Education Committee and the Business and Labor Committee, respectively. His work included numerous bills related to workers’ rights, child nutrition programs and consumer protection. Peter is particularly proud of his central role in the passage of a bill to expand Oregon’s free school lunch program to include low-income students formerly charged a reduced price. In graduate school, he focused on how statistics, economics, game theory and applied public management approaches can be used to help make evidenced-based policy decisions and to execute sound public policy.
He undertook his 2016 Policy Apprenticeship at Feeding America.
