2016 LBJ DC Fellow

Joe Jenkins received his Master of Public Affairs (DC Concentration) and was a Ben Barnes Fellow at the LBJ School. A magna cum laude graduate in political science from The University of Texas at Dallas, he is interested in intelligence and national security, particularly in the context of the ongoing conflicts in Iraq and Syria. Prior to graduate school, Joe served as a U.S. Marine in Iraq, which further heightened his longstanding interest in the intelligence field. He also has worked as an advanced placement science teacher for Teach for America and as a law clerk. Joe’s final semester of graduate studies in Austin focused on enhanced development of his statistical data analysis skills and on researching defense policy approaches.
He undertook his 2016 Policy Apprenticeship at Human Rights First, National Security Program.
