2025 LBJ DC Fellow
Abdullah Alsawfta is a candidate for the Master of Public Affairs (DC Concentration) at the LBJ School. He graduated ampla cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Global Studies and a minor in Arabic at the University of Texas at Austin.
While earning his undergraduate degree, Alsawfta spent one year working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Student Workforce Trainee. This experience introduced him to the federal government and allowed him to give back to his country. Alsawfta has worked at FBI Headquarters in Washington, DC, and the local FBI field office in Austin, Texas. Alsawfta’s work entailed projects on counterintelligence, investigating election interference, combating criminal elements, and ensuring the security of FBI personnel.
Alsawfta is interested in national security and intelligence in the context of protecting Americans from foreign and domestic threats. For his Policy Apprenticeship, Alsawfta would like to continue working with the FBI or other public or private organizations that will broaden his experience within the intelligence sector.
