Adolfo Cervantes is a candidate for the Master of Public Affairs (DC Concentration) at the LBJ School. He graduated from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education-ITESM with a Bachelor’s in business administration. He earned a Master’s in public administration at National Institute of Public Administration in Mexico-INAP and specialization in Public Management at Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences-FLACSO.

While earning his undergrad degree, Cervantes completed an internship in the marketing department at Bimbo in Santiago, Chile. He also completed a politics and public policy program at The Washington Center for Internship & Academic Seminars, interning full-time at Hillary Clinton Super PAC in Washington, DC. 

After graduation, Cervantes worked for seven years in state government in Guerrero, Mexico. First, serving as an advisor of the Secretary of Government and Public Affairs and then as director of the Council of Population. He was responsible for establishing relationships and coordinating with the United Nations Population Fund, the federal government, and NGOs to develop and implement public policies using sociodemographic data analysis. Cervantes authored and co-authored a handbook and several research articles on public policies, which have been published by the United Nations and the state government of Guerrero.

At the LBJ School, he serves as vice-chair of the Steering Committee of the 1st Latino Policy Research Symposium at UT Austin. This event is intended to serve as a national model research event that fosters a dialogue about Latino policies and showcases new research and policy initiatives that seek to improve the quality of life for Latinos. Cervantes is enrolled in courses in public finance, public policy, and inequality. Currently, he is pursuing further training in quantitative analysis, public communication, and policy research. 

Cervantes is seeking a Policy Apprenticeship that will allow him to enhance his expertise in political advocacy, diplomacy, and foreign affairs.
