Jianyu Mei is a candidate for the Master of Public Affairs (DC Concentration) at the LBJ School. He earned a Bachelor's degree in International Finance and a Master's degree in Finance from the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE), Beijing, China. Mei holds a CFA® Charter and is also pursuing a Master of Financial Planning at the University of Georgia.
Mei’s career spans leadership roles in renowned financial institutions in China, including Donghai Securities Co., Ltd. and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) head office. In April 2022,Mei arrived in the USA, driven by a deep interest in the public sector. As a non-native English speaker and career transformer, he actively immersed himself in American life, overcoming language barriers. Mei’s global perspective, shaped by visits to over 30 countries, fuels his passion for world history, geography, culture, and development.
Mei hopes to find a Policy Apprenticeship in DC focused either on public finance or international development, particularly in the areas of natural resources preservation, international cultural exchanges, or economic growth.
