2024 LBJ DC Fellow
Joseph Matawaran is a Master of Public Affairs (DC Concentration) candidate at the LBJ School. He is a magna cum laude graduate in political science with a minor in law and legal studies from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Prior to graduate school, Matawaran worked in Washington, DC at the National Federation of Filipino American Associations, focused on engaging and empowering diverse communities through national advocacy, civic engagement, and leadership development.
Matawaran is interested in labor economic research, with a particular focus on developing equitable data collection methods. At the LBJ School, he is taking an elective course in economics, discrimination, and policy; further developing his quantitative analysis and policy research skills.
