2025 LBJ DC Fellow

Madison Wallace is a candidate for the Master of Public Affairs (DC Concentration) at the LBJ School. She majored in Political Science at Angelo State University.

Prior to graduate school, Wallace served as Scheduler and Press Assistant in Congressman Al Green’s Washington, DC office. Her two years on Capitol Hill provided her with extensive exposure to legislative processes and deepened her commitment to addressing issues related to education, women’s rights, and civil rights. In this role, Wallace conducted legislative research for House Resolution 1451, the Original National Domestic Violence Awareness Month Resolution of 2022.

Wallace’s interest in education policy, particularly in creating equitable opportunities for students of all backgrounds, drives her passion for public affairs. She is deeply committed to addressing systemic barriers in education, believing that policy reform is key to ensuring that students from all socioeconomic backgrounds have the opportunity to succeed.

She works for the Dean of Students office as a Safety Education and Hazing Prevention Graduate Assistant. In this role, she is gaining practical experience in higher education, particularly in developing risk management-focused curricula promoting inclusive and safe learning environments. This position has enhanced her understanding of how education policy can shape institutional practices and support equitable access to resources for students.

Wallace hopes to find a Policy Apprenticeship in DC focused on education policy, work with an education-focused non-profit such as the Institute for Higher Education Policy, or return to Capitol Hill to advocate for policies promoting equity in education.
