2025 LBJ DC Fellow

Mara Luz Gomez earned her Master of Public Affairs (DC Concentration) at the LBJ School. She majored in Human Development and Family Studies and obtained her Nonprofit Professional credentials from the University of Houston.

Prior to graduate school, Gomez worked at LINK Houston, a nonprofit that advocates for transportation equity and climate justice. This experience developed her interest in how public transportation, large infrastructure projects, and climate justice impact Black and Brown communities’ quality of life.

At the LBJ school, she was involved in the Latino Policy Research Symposium’s steering committee and took an elective course where she grew her research and writing skills as she learned about the past, present, and future of urban mobility.
