On Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, the Strauss Center and Clements Center welcome Tom Ricks, a military historian and author, to give a lecture: "Was George Washington a Strategic Genius?"

On Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, the Strauss Center welcomes Scott Moore, director of the Penn Global China Program at the University of Pennsylvania, for a talk on "Hydropolitics in China: Water Conflict, Development, and Sustainability in a Rising Power." Drawing on Moore's new book, Subnational Hydropolitics, this talk will explore the role that water has played in Chinese politics, its rapid economic growth, and its struggle to make its development sustainable.

On Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019, the LBJ Washington Center, in collaboration with the Robert Strauss Center for International Security and Law, is pleased to present LBJ School of Public Affairs Professor Joshua Eisenman for a talk on his recently released book, Red China's Green Revolution. The discussion will be moderated by Gerard Gayou, assistant editorial page writer at The Wall Street Journal.

On Tuesday, Feb. 12, the Clements Center will welcome Mark Pomar, the Clements Center's Senior National Security Fellow and the former CEO and president of the U.S.–Russia Foundation (USRF), for a talk on "Putin's Russia: Implications for US-Russia Relations" at The University of Texas at Austin. 

Students at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin will pay tribute to the life and legacy of former congresswoman, distinguished public servant and teacher Barbara Jordan during the 22nd annual Barbara Jordan National Forum (BJNF), Feb. 18–22, 2019. Citizenship and power are central to this year's signature, student-led weeklong program, whose theme, "Extending the Power of the People," is inspired by Jordan's words.

On Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, the Strauss Center will welcome Brig. Gen. Jennifer Buckner, the U.S. Army's director for cyber, electronic warfare and information operations. Join us for a fascinating conversation, which will feature Professors Michele Malvesti and Bobby Chesney — part of the Brumley Speaker Series and co-sponsored by the LBJ Ph.D. Colloquium.
